Depression - Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments

Depression effects people of all ages. It does not discriminate against social economic class, gender or ethnicity. The stigma linked to depression prevents people from getting help. The PATIENTS Program asks Jason Noel, an Associate Professor at UMB School of Pharmacy to discuss symptoms, causes, and treatments for depression.


Mental Illness: Combating the Stigma

Many misconceptions still persist about depression and mental illness. People often think they can “power through it,” and when they cannot, they may be led to believe that they are “just not tough enough.” However, this could not be further from the truth. Mental illness is a serious health issue, just like diabetes or a broken bone.  Watch this video to help dispel some of the stigmas surrounding depression and other mental illnesses.
